Duke of Gloucester
Standard class 8 pacific, No. 71000, 'Duke of Gloucester' in the sidings at Ely on the evening of Saturday, 9th December. The loco had
used excessive coal supplies on the northbound 'Cathedrals Express' run from London Victoria and as no replenishment supplies could
be sourced and no diesel was attached or available, the southbound leg was terminated at Cambridge.
